A2 LED Aviator Dual-Output Dual-Spectrum Flashlight
Note: Color options pertain to the secondary LED colors
The Surefire A2 LED Aviator is a compact dual-output flashlight that provides two distinct beam types and optional output colors. It uses virtually indestructible power-regulated LED emitters and a precision micro-textured reflector to produce both spot and flood beams in your choice of white, red, green, or blue. The Aviator`s tactically-correct two-stage pushbutton tailcap switch lets you instantly select an output level: press for a momentary-on 10-lumen long-runtime (color-option) flood beam for general night use, close work, or where you need to preserve your night vision; press further for a momentary-on 120-lumen white spot beam - six times the light of a big two-D-cell flashlight; twist for constant-on low beam, twist further for constant-on high beam.

A light emitting diode (LED) is a chip of specially fabricated solid material that emits light when electricity flows through it. Since LEDs function for thousands of hours, have no filament to burn
out or break, and waste little energy producing heat instead of light, they are ideal for many illumination tool applications. They do differ greatly in color, efficiency, and assembly quality, and that`s why SureFire uses only the finest LEDs. We wring even more performance from them by electronically regulating battery current to optimize the output, runtime, and quality of the light produced.
A reflector`s shape determines the type of beam it produces. In general, the deeper the reflector, the tighter the beam; smaller reflectors typically produce a wider beam that provides more illumination for peripheral vision. SureFire`s aluminum reflectors are precisely machined from solid stock, which makes them extremely strong and gives them excellent heat-conducting prop- erties to keep the illumination tool functioning properly. The reflector faces are then given a proprietary micro-textured coating with a mirror-like finish. This micro-texture produces a smooth, precisely modulated beam with no rings, shadows, or hot spots. No focusing needed. Just hit the switch to get a perfect beam - every time.
Coated Tempered Window
An illumination tool`s window protects the emitter and the focusing element, whether it`s a reflector or a TIR lens. Since the window is a crucial part of the overall system, we make them from tough, tempered glass, which incorporates high chemical and thermal resistance, low thermal expansion, and an ultra-smooth surface that provides excellent light transmission. To top it off - literally - we apply an anti-reflective coating that reduces light loss even further, letting you unleash nearly every lumen of light.
High-strength Aerospace Aluminum
Our aluminum illumination tool bodies are first precision-machined with knurling, sculpting, or stepping for grip enhancement. Then they`re anodized, which means a layer of aluminum oxide - one of the hardest compounds in existence - is chemically grown onto the surface to produce a smooth, incredibly tough finish. Most SureFire illumination tools come with Type III hard anodizing that meets or exceeds military specifications for maximum durability. These bodies are built for survival - theirs, and more importantly, yours.
Two-stage Tactical Tailcap Switch
SureFire led the way in tactical flashlight ergonomics by placing a pushbutton switch on the tailcap, where it can be easily located and - in an almost instinctive action - easily pressed by the thumb. Decades later, it`s still there.
Tactical - press the pushbutton for momentary-on, twist the entire tailcap for constant-on. As the name implies, it`s preferred for tactical applications.
Weatherproof O-ring and Gasket Sealing
The sophisticated engineering and high-end components that go into our illumination tools are worthless if moisture and dust get inside. From experience, we know our lights will be dropped, bashed, run over, submerged, and even stop the occasional bullet. So we seal them with quality O-rings and gaskets before handing them over to you for punishment.
