  • In traditional sewn seams, the process leaves small puncture holes where the thread passes through the fabric. In critical zones, like the shoulders and underarms and along the zipper, those tiny holes allow water and wind to penetrate, drastically impairing the garment`s weather resistance and the wearer`s comfort. Magic Seam technology uses sonic and line-bonding technologies, thereby eliminating traditional thread holes. Fabric edges are hot cut and welded together to establish an uninterrupted barrier against the elements. In hard shells, Magic Seam technology provides protection like that of a garment with seams that haven been sewn and then taped. In soft shells, Magic Seam technology produces a substantially higher weather resistance without sacrificing breathability.
  
  
• Lighter Weight
  • Magic Seam technology significantly reduces a garment`s weight. As much as 10 to 20 percent of the total weight can be cut, resulting in an ultralight product with increased durability and weather resistance. In addition to eliminating seam thread, Magic Seam technology allows the use of 10-millimeter narrow tapes instead of the conventional 13- and 17-millimeter variety, further reducing weight. In terms of strength, Magic Seam technology is equivalent to the fabric itself, so there is no compromise in durability. Magic Seam technology is also more compressible than traditional seams, which enhances the garment`s packability.
  
  
• Greater Comfort
  • Garments built with Magic Seam technology are more comfortable than those with traditional sewn seams. Magic Seam technology is up to 60 percent less bulky than traditional seams, meaning seams bunch less in crease zones. The seams are flat and soft, eliminating the friction caused by thread rubbing against the skin. Unlike traditional seams where the stitching limites stretch between fabric panels, Magic Seam technology lets stretch fabric retain its elasticity across the entire garment. In hard shells, Magic Seam technology reduces the surface area covered by traditional seam tape by up to 50 percent, resulting in softer, lighter, more compressible, more breathable, and, ultimately, more comfortable garments.
