NNN System
    Technology for supremacy

As an interface between human and technology the binding transfers power from the foot, via the boot to the ski. Every cross country skier demands reliability, easy handling, stability and control from it. The 2007/08 line sees Alpina, Fischer, Madshus, and Rossignol using the New Nordic Norm (NNN) binding system from Rottefella. It stands out through ingenious simplicity and outstanding functionality.

    Maximum Stability
  • The NNN technology features a particularly broad binding plate. It gives the sole of the boot additional support that can be felt in the form of improved stability. With every kick action, in downhills and in turns.

    Maximum Control
  • The dual guide rail increases stability and system control considerably. Boot and binding interact to perfection. Power transfer is enhanced and the skis are easier to control, especially with side movement impulses.

    Maximum Contact
  • No other binding system brings the human foot so close to the cross country ski. The result is a finer feeling for the movement. The small space between foot and ski gives you a finer feeling

    Best Power Transfer (NIS)
  • The NIS binding plate is a key element in the successful NNN technology. The NIS plate is not screwed onto the ski; instead a patented high-bond connection joins ski and binding plate together permanently as one unit. This results in optimum power transfer through free ski flex. The slide-on binding is connected to the NIS plate merely by a locking feature. The stiffness of the ski is not altered in any way and the ski retains its original hardness and characteristics.

    Fine Tuning (NIS)
  • Thanks to the easy, individual adjustability (using the NIS key) of the binding on the NIS plate the balance point can be adjusted to match the respective skiing style and various snow and track conditions. Move the binding forward for difficult icy trails with steep climbs to improve the kick action and climbing properties. Moving the binding further back for easier and flatter trails improves gliding properties and speed.

    Dual Flexor System
  • The patented Dual Flexor System is used on the skating bindings R3 and R4. The additional binding flexor keep the ski horizontally balanced after every leg kick and prevents the ski tip or tail from becoming caught in the snow. The two binding flexors are available in three hardness levels (soft, medium, hard), giving all skiers the optimum set-up.
