Before heading into avalanche terrain make sure you have developed the knowledge and proficiency to use an avalanche transceiver efficiently through training and practice. DSP Advanced Option Pack Features
DSP units with Advanced OPTION-PACK can be switched from TRANSMIT mode to OPTION mode by pressing the OPTIONS button three times. You can now switch between the respective functions by pressing the OPTIONS button:
- Temperature Display
Switch between degrees F and degrees C using SCAN
- Compass
After insertion of new batteries, the compass needs to be calibrated internally. This is also necessary if the unit is subject to large temperature fluctuations. Calibration is started using SCAN (`CAL` flashes). Then you rotate the unit completely through 360 degrees. Finally, press OPTION.
- Bearing Compass
The bearing can be changed using SCAN. The flashing bearing default can be set using MARK (+) and SCAN (-). Then finish with OPTION.
- Altimeter
The altimeter display can be adapted to the prevailing air pressure. Press SCAN. The displayed height can be changed using MARK (+) and SCAN (-). Simultaneous pressing of MARK and SCAN zeros the setting. Then finish with OPTION.

Pieps is the pioneer of 3 antenna systems since 2003, allowing exact pinpointing.
iProbe Support
The DSP (software version 5.0 and newer) can be deactivated temporarily by the iProbe so the searcher can focus on the next strongest signal.
Unique Self Check
Using a fourth antenna inside, all major functions are tested during power on: transmitting frequency, all antennas, amplifiers and processors.
Device Test and Update
All DSPs (since 2003) can be tested and the software can be updated to the latest developments.
