GORE-TEX -
There are lots of waterproofing methods in the market these days, but GORE-TEX is still the leader in waterproof, breathable membrane technology. That`s why we use it in all of our waterproof boots. In fact, Danner was the first company to use GORE-TEX in footwear.
GORE-TEX works just like your skin. It allows moisture to escape, but doesn`t let water in. Its wafer-thin membrane is made up of billions of tiny pores that allow the extremely small molecules of water vapor (perspiration) to escape. At the same time, the pores are too small for water to penetrate. The result? Your feet stay warm, dry and comfortable.
All Danner GORE-TEX boots are guaranteed waterproof, and each GORE-TEX liner we use is tested before it is placed in our boots. The liner, shaped like a sock, is seam-sealed and then inflated to 7 psi and submerged in a water tank. A technician looks for telltale bubbles, which indicate even the smallest leak. This test ensures that our waterproof boots won`t let you down - no matter how wet you get.
DANNER BACKCOUNTRY -
The dual-density Backcountry outsole combines hard perimeter lugs for durability with soft inner lugs for unbeatable traction in any condition. It`s featured on our Frontier line.
THINSULATE -
For years, many outdoor enthusiasts have chosen Thinsulate Insulation over all other forms of insulation because of its outstanding performance characteristics. It is extremely thin, very lightweight and maintains most of its insulating characteristics even when wet. Thinsulate Insulation is made up of thousands of tiny microfibers that trap miniscule pockets of insulating air space that provide the ultimate in cold weather protection.
So, which insulation level is right for you? Since each person is different, your body`s overall resistance to cold will influence how much insulation you will need. However, as a general rule, the higher your activity level, the less insulation you need. For example 200-400 gram is best for mild to moderate conditions, while 600-1000 gram is suited for cold to extreme conditions. Danner offers a wide range of insulation levels to accommodate nearly every need.
Is it Thinsulate or Thinsulate Ultra?
You may have noticed that sometimes the insulation is called Thinsulate Insulation other times it is called Thinsulate Ultra Insulation. Here`s why:
Thinsulate Insulation is the name for insulation levels of 200 gram and under.
Thinsulate UltraInsulation is the name for insulation levels greater than 200 grams.
