Air Comfort System
Extrasport's AirComfort System™ looks dramatically different and provides ultimate fit and comfort. Ariaprene™ (perforated neoprene) straps, wrapped in mesh, lightly pad the shoulder strap area without restricting air flow through the straps. Inside the PFD, channeled pads of EVA bump foam minimize skin contact to promote air circulation. In the EVA bump foam pads, the spacing between bumps promote air flow, dissipate moisture, minimize surface contact with skin, and is covered with comfort mesh. The air channels in between pads create natural paths for air circulation.  The chimney shaped mesh vent drafts air through the back panel. For the floatation, layers of skived (cut on angle) PE foam provide maximum freedom of movement and prevent chaffing. The thin layers of shaped foam contour to the body for great fit and maximum mobility. The contouring is visible in the shape of the PFD.

PFD stands for Personal Flotation Device
U.S. Coast Guard Regulations require you to have U.S. Coast Guard approved PFDs on your recreational boat. How many and what kind of PFDs you need depends on the number of people onboard, the size of your boat and the kind of boating you will be doing.

  • PFD classifications
Personal floatation devices are classified by location of use. Choose the right PFD for the location and type of boating you plan to do.

  • Type I is for offshore operations.
  • Type II is for boating near shore.
  • Type III is a buoyancy aide to be used where rescue situations may be imminent.
  • Type IV is to be thrown to an individual needing immediate assistance.
  • Type V is a specialty PFD for specific activities or consumers.

It's recommended that children always wear a Type II PFD or higher, even for onshore activities.

Extrasport Eon Men's Paddler's PFD

Great Fit-Great Features. Especially like the 6 separate pockets. The "Napoleon" pockets are easy to access. Not sure the Fleece-lined hand warmer pockets are very practical...nice to have the pockets but can't remember a time when I wished my PFD pockets were fleece-lined. Like the d-ring and the loop to hang my carabiners from. The high back is just the right height for the seat-back in my kayak. The sizing is somewhat of a mystery. The S/M is for chest size 40-46. This is normally a M/L. Never-the-less, it fits perfect without a lot of excess straps hanging all over the place.I have a Stohlquist that used to be my primary PFD. It's now hanging in the garage since I much prefer the fit & features of the Extrasport Eon. Bob Wards had the absolute best price and shipping was free. Overall a great experience.
