Techlite Polarchromic Ignitor
Smith's most versatile Techlite lens combines photochromic properties for varying light conditions, polarized technology for glare protection, and the clarity and scratch resistance only glass can provide. This photochromic polarized lens is built on their Techlite glass lens platform to maximize clarity and provides up to 12x more scratch resistance than a polymer lens and can be up to 20% lighter than a traditional glass lens.
Visible light transmission: 12%-30%, cloudy to partly sunny conditions.
Ignitor maximizes an object's definition and enhances depth perception. A multilayer mirror coating increases eye comfort without affecting color appearance.
Polarization cuts glare. Glare off of horizontal surfaces like snow, water, and asphalt, decreases depth perception, and reduces visual acuity which causes eye fatigue. Smith precisely aligns the polarized visual layer inside their lenses to filter out 99.9% of this "visual static" for a finely tuned view of the action.
Vacuum applied, Anti-Reflective (A/R) coatings on the back side of the lens will eliminate bothersome sidelight reflections.
Repels moisture, grease, and grime. A barrier between your lenses and the world. Water will bead up and disperse without streaking. Smudges from fingerprints are wiped clean easily.
The base curve is the radius of the sphere measured from the back of the lens. Smith features styles with 6,8, and 9 base lens curvature. Models that include 6 base tend to be more flat relative to your face. While 9 base styles provide the maximum amount of wrap around your face and 8 falls in between.
Placed at the nose and on the temple tips, Megol gently grips your skin to help keep the frame in place. The gripping power increases when introduced to moisture.
